Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park

To celebrate the National Park Service turning 100 all national parks were free the weekend of Aug 27th. My friend and I have always wanted to check out Rocky Mountain National Park and thought this was the perfect time to visit. Our goal was to check out Bear Lake, but after finding the lot full we took Trail Ridge Rd until we found a place we wanted to stop. Sprague Lake seemed like a good idea and turned out to be great as we saw our first moose! The lake is short, less than a mile around, but offers pretty views. After a quick walk we headed into down town Estes Park to check out the shops. If we had time we would have toured the Stanley Hotel, which I recommend seeing. To learn more about this trail click here.

This little guy wanted all of our snacks. Sorry, but we can't feed you.

The first time I've ever seen a moose in the wild. The ranger thought he was about five years old.
